This airport joined the club of major airports for the first time in history in 1997. It was ranked sixth among the ten fastest growing airports in the world. The airport recorded a growth rate of 14 percent, which was higher than the growth rate of major airports in Asia and Europe.

In 2014, this airport topped the world's busiest airports with 70.4 million passengers. Currently 90 million people are traveling annually. By 2023, more than 118 million people will have access to travel facilities. The airport is also one of the largest air cargo centers in the world. From 1970 to September 2020, it has shipped more than 40.8 million tons of goods.

Emirates started operations on October 25, 1985 with just two aircrafts. Initially, flights to Karachi were started by getting Boeing 737 and Airbus B4300 on rent. In the first 4 months of this year, 3 crore 354 thousand 349 passengers used Dubai International Airport. In April 2018, 7.6 million passengers were welcomed at this airport.

The total number of passengers arriving at the airport was 76 lakh 1 thousand 155. This number was 0.1 percent lower than last year's April 2017, when it was 76, 22, 946 passengers. During the first 4 months of this year, the total number of passengers using this airport was 3 crore 3 lakh 54 thousand 349. This number is 0.8 percent higher than the number of passengers during the same period last year, which was 31 million 19 thousand 542.

India retained its first position in terms of total number of passengers, with 1027267 passengers. The second position was held by Saudi Arabia, whose total number of passengers was 640556. 10, 000 people travel from Dubai International Airport every hour. 166 passengers pass through here every minute, while 252, 000 people travel through Dubai Airport on a daily basis.

Thus, this airport has become one of the busiest airports in the world. Compared to last year, the number of passengers has increased by 6 to 9 percent. The development that Dubai Airport has achieved is due to the vision and tireless efforts of its rulers, Dubai Airport has facilities that are not available in the world's major airports, and efforts are underway to further improve it. .
